Benjamin Dolan is committed to his community and the people in it. A native of Appleton, Minnesota where he currently resides. Dolan believes in hard work, personal responsibility, but also most importantly community. He is firm believer that, “When we all do better, we all do better,” to steal a quote from the late Senator Paul Wellstone.
Dolan is no stranger to hardwork, as he comes from a blue collar roots that goes generations deep with farmers and laborers on both sides of his family, with Dolan working several labor jobs during and after college he understands the struggle. He takes pride in the opportunity to have the chance to be a true advocate for his home area in which he grew up and believes its time that the rest of the state takes notice to what Great Minnesota has to offer.
The topics in which Dolan is most passionate about is mental health awareness and resources, quality affordable healthcare, professional retention, methamphetamine addiction reduction, working class parents, agriculture, and of course our veterans. He is also committed to creating and attracting higher paying jobs to the district so that the people of the community do not have to work 2-3 jobs to support themselves and their families. The unemployment rate is low which is important but, so is family time especially with those who have children.
Dolan has lived in smaller towns, specifically Greater Minnesota most of his life. A high school graduate from Lac qui Parle Valley High School in rural Madison then attending college at Ridgewater College in Willmar playing on the Varsity basketball team and then graduating from Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota. Dolan received his Juris Doctorate (Law Degree) from the University of South Dakota School of Law in Vermillion, South Dakota. He currently works as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Minnesota Judicial branch locally and has gained valuble experience in the legal field the past few years. All the while being actively involved in politics/government/community as long as he can remember and has a strong passion for public service and the State of Minnesota, specifically his home District of House District 17A.
